The concluding episode of the celebrity version of The Traitors was mistakenly made available by international distributors prior to its scheduled UK broadcast on Thursday, as confirmed a network statement.

Reports indicate that the final was viewed by a few hundred viewers of the streaming service Crave in the North American country; they were able to watch it for a short period until it was removed.

The episode being uploaded was not a error by the producing network, and a representative for the company urged those who believe they know the outcome of the show to "avoid sharing any reveals".

"We kindly ask those who believes they have uncovered the ending of The Celebrity Traitors to hold any information they have to themselves," the announcement said.

"We ask you to refrain from posting potential spoilers so that the millions of fans who have been closely watching every twist and turn of the show can experience the finale this night."

This celebrity version is presently the most-watched TV program of the year, with an average of 12.6 million people over the first four episodes.

Fans of the series have been waiting to see whether deceivers Cat Burns and Alan Carr will win the £100,000 for a good cause or whether loyal contestants Joe Marler, Nick Mohammed and David Olosuga will be victorious.

A former winner of the third series of The Traitors stated that "everyone dislikes reveals", which are "the thief of joy".

The winner mentioned they will be sitting down to view the finale this evening as it airs, with his entire family and "a bucket of popcorn".

Thursday night's final episode is extended to 70 minutes on BBC One, with an longer version of The Celebrity Traitors: Uncloaked scheduled to broadcast on BBC Two after the finale.

Host Ed Gamble will be accompanied by the contestants and Claudia Winkleman as they respond to the series conclusion.
