Ex- Physician Faces Sexual Assault Charges Involving Thirty-Eight Patients
Legal authorities report that a ex- doctor stands accused of performing assaults against 38 victims who were patients.
The Grave Charges
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of numerous sexual offences – including some against children younger than 13 – between 2017 and 2021.
A senior prosecutor commented, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to support a thorough and intricate investigation, carefully reviewing the evidence to establish that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
The Investigation
These allegations come after what investigators called a “detailed inquiry” into reported assaults at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
Spencer is due to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.
Breakdown of Offences
Prosecutors outline the 45 sexual offences comprise:
- Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
- 17 counts of assault by penetration.
- Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.
