Well, perhaps an Ashes series in Australia where they still have a chance to secure the famous trophy after the first three Tests.

That will not be happening this time, though, after the hosts' dominant victory by 82 runs in Adelaide left the home side 3-0 up for the fourth consecutive series on home turf.

The loyal traveling fans, England's supporters' group, have thousands of supporters making the journey for the final two Tests in Sydney and Melbourne.

In addition, there are travel parties who will spend the Christmas period down under, as well as loved ones planning a dream holiday.

Fans with Booked Tickets

Four fans named Alex, Sam, Rory and Katie are a prime example.

Alex, Sam, Rory and Katie had their itineraries and entry credentials arranged for the Boxing Day and New Year Tests "a full year in advance", hoping to witness a long-awaited triumph.

Instead, they have watched Australia defeat England convincingly in just under two weeks from their family home in their hometown.

"Everyone at work has been teasing me regarding the concluded contest for the last two weeks," stated Sam Ryding.

"Our expectation had been that we would have the series on the line upon our arrival."

Diminishing Hope

There was plenty of positivity concerning a potential victory of breaking a 15-year drought for a triumph on Australian soil before it began.

Yet now they are staring down the barrel of prolonging a streak without victory in the country to 19 games when the fourth Test gets under way in the MCG on Christmas Day.

Ben Stokes' side - and their supporters - will be keen to prevent a whitewash.

It was mentioned that the "thrill and enjoyment" of head coach the aggressive 'Bazball' approach in the past couple of seasons had "reinvigorated" the five-day game for English supporters.

Yet the fans said they had low expectations for the remaining matches - and all they are asking for from the players is "a show of spirit".

"Every pundit references this, but it all hinges on mental resilience. 'Bazball' has been elevated to a term now that is just, like, impractical batting," added Rory.

"In a five-day Test match, you should hunker down. Playing at deliveries 'wide of off stump has not been part of the coaching manuals, and that is primarily due to the batting lineup."

The Remaining Matches

When questioned if he believed England will win a match in the current series, Sam said: "The evidence suggests the Australians are superior at the moment."

"Necessarily, there must be more than one player that stands up for England and produces a match-winning display."

Regardless of the result, the siblings are still anticipating the trip.

"It will be a great time anyway," added another sibling. "We have to go with that attitude."

"Of course, it's disappointing we don't have more to play for, but we have invested a significant amount as it is."

"We plan to savor celebrating the holidays in Australia. This will be our first experience traveling during the festive period."

A teacher, Katie is determined to make the most of the long-haul travel as part of her Christmas holidays.

"Should the cricket disappoint, there's always golf to turn to," she added.
