Iran is willing to resume atomic discussions with Washington on condition that it is handled with "dignity" and "respect", Tehran's foreign minister has declared.

The Iranian diplomat said exclusively dialogue was effective, and shared new appeals had come from go-betweens to restart talks with the American leadership. He asserted Iran possessed no secret atomic facilities, and Iran could not yet authorize the UN nuclear inspectorate to access struck enrichment centers for protective measures.

Walking a Challenging Course

Araghchi is navigating a difficult path since Iran wishes not to be perceived to be operating from a situation of vulnerability, and he consistently maintained that Iran had come out stronger militarily and mentally from the coordinated strike on its enrichment centers in June.

He was addressing at a defense forum in Tehran where he reaffirmed that Iran had "an inalienable right to refine atomic fuel within its borders that it will always maintain" – the key factor of the stalemate in the prior discussions.

Prior Discussions Unexpectedly Concluded

The prior phases of negotiations between the US and Iran were ended suddenly and bitter termination on 12 June when Israel, with Washington's assistance, struck Tehran's atomic facilities in a fortnight-long engagement that ended with Donald Trump claiming the locations had been destroyed. Following this, Western states used their authority to reinstate UN-wide sanctions, but Iran insists they have not had a substantial consequence.

Perfect Agreement Suggested

Iran's diplomats claimed they felt they had reached a "magic solution" to the nuclear fuel concern in prior discussions, when it was settled an Iran-based consortium with US participation could enrich uranium. The two nations would have been able to declare success since domestic enrichment would have remained and the US could be assured that Iran's nuclear programme was entirely non-military.

It had not been agreed in the talks that American atomic experts could function on Iranian soil, but that was a reasonable assumption of the partnership suggestion.
