The Streaming Giant Chooses Perfect Star for Mr. 2 in the Hit Series Third Season
Baroque Works is set to play a huge role in the next installment of Netflix’s show of One Piece, though the real showdown isn’t set to occur until the third season, and a adored, audience-beloved member has recently been selected.
The streaming service revealed this week that the skilled actor has joined the One Piece season 3 cast and will play Mr. 2. This character can use their power to transform into an exact copy of any individual they’ve made contact with with their dominant hand. Escola, who is non-binary and uses they/them pronouns, will portray a version of that character reinterpreted as gender non-binary, rather than as a drag artist, in the live-action series, unlike the original manga and cartoon version.
The new cast member will work alongside multiple fresh additions set to bring Baroque Works to reality, such as head Mr. 0, brought to life by the well-known actor, a talented actress as a key member, and a familiar face, who also joins the lineup as King Nefertari Cobra of the desert kingdom.
Although the role is a key figure of Baroque Works, the persona won’t appear until One Piece season 3. Considering season 2 expected to adapt the Little Garden segment, this marks a significant shift in the timing of their first appearance, one that could signal more adjustments to the narrative framework.
Their mix of excellent comedic sense and emotional depth makes them a ideal selection for the role. Along with their latest vocal work in the animated feature Boys Go to Jupiter, they garnered significant recognition and multiple awards for creating and performing in the hit comedy play Oh Mary!, showcasing the adaptability they’ll contribute to one of One Piece’s most celebrated roles.
The streaming service’s real-life One Piece program is set to return for its next installment on March 10, 2026.
