Vehicles in German City Found Covered with Swastikas in Human Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Local Police
Officers stated they were notified by a resident who found a car in Hanau smeared with red-colored substance

Around fifty cars have been smeared with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.

Cars, exterior walls and mailboxes were marked, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they stated in a release.

Police say they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a resident observed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored liquid.

The liquid had been drawn in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they stated.

Law enforcement then found multiple other smeared cars and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws banning the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.

Police state initial examinations suggest the substance was probably blood from a person.

"At present there remains no lead as to where it came from; authorities are not yet cognizant of any harm in relation with the incident," they stated.

Municipal representatives announced they were working "to resolve the mystery" and have appealed to the residents for information.

An important official stated the attack made him without words and required to be solved rapidly.

"This act strikes at the core of Hanau and revives the pain of the extremist attack half a decade ago," he posted on online, recalling the death of nine individuals by a shooter aiming at residents of foreign heritage in 2020.
